United Agree Terms With Frenchman

Dundee United & Cowdenbeath have agreed a fee for French midfielder Morgaro Gomis, which should see the 21-year old arrive at Tannadice in January to start a 2 and a half year deal with the club.

Morgaro signed for Cowdenbeath at the start of this season, after impressing during the pre-season, and the Fife side valued the midfielder at around £20,000.

He began his career with French side Montpellier, before spending time in the Chelsea youth set-up and playing some non-league football with Barnet.

Speaking about his first signing, Craig Levein said 'The deal is agreed in principle because we can't actually sign him until the window opens again.'

'He's a young boy with potential, hence the nominal fee.'

'While he will be a first team squad player, I don't expect him to be a regular first team player in the short term.'

'He's seen as one for the future and shouldn't be viewed as someone who will immediately add strength to the midfield.'

Levein has made it clear he's looking for experienced players during the January window, but he's still planning for the long-term future of the club and feels that Morgaro Gomis will be part of that future.
