Craig Levein has revealed his secret weapon in the fight to keep his United players fit while the cold weather sets in - Kevin Keegan.
Dundee United made used of the facilities at Kevin Keegan`s Soccer Centre in Braehead at the start of the week, and both Levein & the players were impressed by what they saw.
"In was a worthwhile experience to see Kevin Keegan rolling back the years. By that, I mean Keegan's Soccer Centre at Braehead was a great way to change our training routine at the start of the week," Levein said in his weekly column for the Daily Record.
"The players absolutely loved it. It's the first time Ive been and would definitely be keen to go back for more in a couple of months."
"There were various little skill tests and team games played at a high tempo for all ages. It allows all the boys to work on their individual skills and various aspects of their game."
Given his glowing report on Keegan`s Soccer Centre, perhaps Craig Levein should become the new PR manager for the centre?
He continued, "With the weather taking a turn for the worse recently and pitches cutting up, it`s an ideal way to get everyone working at a top-class facility."
Although there was also praise for Kevin Keegan himself, with Levein admitted he wished he was still as fit as the former England manager.
"I can honestly say Kevin is still an extremely fit guy for his age," said Levein.
"He was a great player in his day and some of those touches are still in evidence. Me - I'm afraid my playing days have long since come to an end"
