Craig Brewster didn't think David Robertson had a future with Dundee United, but Craig Levein has spotted the players potential and has decided to give him a chance to stake his claim in the 1st team squad.
If Craig Brewster was still incharge, then Robertson might have been shown the exit door, after being froze out of the squad for most of the year.
Levein`s confidence in the midfielder was rewarded last weekend when he scored United's 3rd goal in the 3-1 win over Caley Thistle.
"My first start of the season was when Craig came here and I've been in the team ever since. He's been outstanding for me," Robbo told the Daily Record.
"I started off well under the old manager but then had a dip in form. Towards the end of his reign I wasn't getting a game and wasn't even making the bench."
In his weekly column in the Daily Record, Craig Levein praised the youngster for the determination and effort he`s shown in recent weeks.
"I was delighted to see David Robertson getting on the scoresheet against Inverness at the weekend," said Levein.
"A few weeks ago, I kind of challenged him to add some more goals to his excellent all-round play and he`s responded in the best possible manner."
"He has the knack of getting into the box at the right time, which is priceless for midfield players these days."
Robertson made his 6th start in 6 games against Caley Thistle last weekend and since Craig Levein believes in consistency in the squad, its very likely he will make his 7th starting appearance against Motherwell at Fir Park on Saturday.
