Dundee Utd Lose Noel Hunt Until 2007

Dundee United striker Noel Hunt is out for at least 3 weeks, after picking up an ankle knock during the 3-2 win over Motherwell.

It looked like Hunt had over-stretched when scoring Dundee United`s winning goal in the late stages of the match, but he had landed awkwardly and was stretchered off to a standing ovation from the Dundee United supporters just moments later.

"Having spoken to the physio after the game I think I can already say that Noel will be unavailable for next weekend," said Levein after the match.

Initially it was hoped that Noel Hunt had only twisted his ankle, but it looks like its more serious than that and there are reports that he will be out until at least the start of January.

However, Levein said today, "I would say he will be out for a minimum of two weeks and it could be longer. I don't think we'll need a scan done, but it looks like a twist and some ligament damage."

Craig Levein is already planning on bringing in several new players during the January transfer window, including a new striker, but losing Hunt for several weeks would be a blow to United`s chances of picking up a few more points during the festive period.
