United Didn't Put Brewster Off

Craig Brewster has admitted that his disappointing spell as Dundee United manager hasn't put him off returning to management at some stage in the future.

The 40-year old signed a short-term playing contract with Aberdeen this week, but will not make his first appearance until the January transfer window opens - meaning he will be unavailable for Aberdeen's visit to Tannadice next week.

Brewster's Dundee United side only managed 2 SPL wins in 10months, a record which Craig Levein managed to equal in his first 2 games incharge and has since recorded a far more impressive 5 wins in 7 matches, including a run of 4 home games in-a-row.

He will undoubtedly remain a legend at Tannadice amongst the home supporters, for scoring the winning goal in the 1-0 Scottish Cup victory over Rangers in 1994, but his time as a manager will probably be best forgotten.

"The United thing is finished and all I am interested in is being part of this squad and doing a job for Aberdeen until the end of the season. Then we'll see what happens after that," said Brewster.

"That experience hasn't soured me, though, as I would definitely like to go back into management one day, but whether that will ever happen or not who knows?"

"I can look back on what happened as part of my education in the game as sometimes people go places and it just doesn't work out where elsewhere it goes great."

"Fortunately I have been a success everywhere I have gone with the exception of my last job so I hope that I am a success at Pittodrie."

"Sometimes I look at things and just think that it was maybe just not meant to be and you can talk about breaks and the like, but that's the feeling I have about United."

"Now I have got a real buzz again to get back playing and I have always enjoyed training so I am just happy to be part of the Aberdeen squad now."

"I can come in the back door and be part of the squad, then push for a place in the team by eventually coming off the bench, then seeing what happens from there."

Bad week ends on a high

Managerless Dundee United came away with a 3-2 victory from Inverness Caledonian Thistle despite the late sending-off of defender Callum Morris.

The Tangerines sacked manager Mixu Paatelainen in midweek following confirmation of their relegation and responded by going in two-goals ahead at the interval.
