United Didn't Put Brewster Off

Craig Brewster has admitted that his disappointing spell as Dundee United manager hasn't put him off returning to management at some stage in the future.

The 40-year old signed a short-term playing contract with Aberdeen this week, but will not make his first appearance until the January transfer window opens - meaning he will be unavailable for Aberdeen's visit to Tannadice next week.

Brewster's Dundee United side only managed 2 SPL wins in 10months, a record which Craig Levein managed to equal in his first 2 games incharge and has since recorded a far more impressive 5 wins in 7 matches, including a run of 4 home games in-a-row.

He will undoubtedly remain a legend at Tannadice amongst the home supporters, for scoring the winning goal in the 1-0 Scottish Cup victory over Rangers in 1994, but his time as a manager will probably be best forgotten.

"The United thing is finished and all I am interested in is being part of this squad and doing a job for Aberdeen until the end of the season. Then we'll see what happens after that," said Brewster.

"That experience hasn't soured me, though, as I would definitely like to go back into management one day, but whether that will ever happen or not who knows?"

"I can look back on what happened as part of my education in the game as sometimes people go places and it just doesn't work out where elsewhere it goes great."

Substitute Thomas Mikkelsen headed a 75th minute winner as Dundee United lifted the Scottish Challenge Cup for the first time with a 2-1 victory against St Mirren at Fir Park.

Their on loan French striker Tony Andreu had volleyed them in front during the opening half but Rory Loy immediately replied.
