Ivanauskas Insists Gordon Wasnt Well

Ivanauskas Insists Gordon Wasnt Well

Hearts manager Valdas Ivanauskas is claiming that Craig Gordon was suffering from a cold at Tannadice last weekend.

The Scottish International was dropped to the bench for Heart's 1-0 win over Dundee United, but when goalkeeper Steven Banks went down injured in the 2nd half - he was rather quick up on his feat and eager to come on as a substitute.

"He was not feeling so good this morning," said Ivanauskas.

"We have a big match against Hibs on Tuesday and it would have been a big risk for him to play."

Speculation is that Craig Gordon is facing a disciplinary hearing after his comments earlier in the week, when he repeated claims made by Steven Pressley last month that there is unrest in the home dressing room over the way Romanov is running the club.

Ivanauskas insisted on Friday that Craig Gordon would not be dropped ahead of any disciplinary hearing, but Romanov must have changed his mind and benched the talented goalie.

Boss pleased to get through

Manager Ray McKinnon was pleased to get through against Queen of the South but not particularly happy with the second-half performance.

Queen of the South 2 Dundee United 3

Dundee United took command of their Challenge Cup semi-final with three first-half goals before hosts Queen of the South staged a late rally.

Charlie Telfer and Scott Fraser both netted inside eleven minutes for the visitors and on loan forward Tony Andreu then added a delightful third.

Stephen Dobbie managed a reply early in the second period and Derek Lyle grabbed another during injury-time - but it's United meeting either St Mirren or The New Saints in the final.
