Craig Levein has made his first signing ahead of the transfer window re-opening on Monday.
Youngster Gregg Burnett has only signed a short-term deal until the end of the season, but some good performances in 2007 could lead to the player being signed on a longer-term deal before the end of the campaign.
Out of contract this week, the 19-year old has already made an appearance for the 1at team squad this season and has signed until May 2007.
Craig Levein has money to spend during the transfer window and has made it clear that he`s on the look out for several new signings.
With Noel Hunt out injured for several weeks, Levein has had to rely on 17-year old David Goodwillie, but his lack of attacking cover means he's very likely to put a goal-scorer top of his wish list.
Attacking players Mark De Vries, Kenny Deuchar and Robbie Winters have already been linked with a move to Tannadice, but Levein has said he wont rush into signing just any player.
He has admitted he will give any potential target serious consideration before using up some of his transfer budget on wages and signing-on fees.
Speaking earlier in the month, Levein said "I've got a bit of money to spend in January, but I won't be spending just for the sake of it."
"I'll only sign a player if I believe he would be an asset to us. There's no point spending cash simply because it is there."
