Levein On January Signing Targets
Dundee United's manager Craig Levein has admitted he's identified several signing targets and will do everything he can to bring them to Tannadice.
The January transfer window is now open and United have already signed French midfielder Morgaro Gomis from Cowdenbeath for a "nominal" fee.
Speaking after his sides humiliating 5-1 defeat to Falkirk on New Years day, Levein wouldn't name any specific players, but admitted he has his eye on a few players.
"I've got people I'm looking at - I don't know if I can get them, but I'll try my best," said Levein.
"There are certain positions on the pitch that need strengthened and probably need a bit more experience, but I'm working on that."
"There are not too many people out of contract at this time of year so I will need to do a bit of manoeuvring."
"There are certain things we need and I'm aware of that, whenever I get to the position where I can do something then I'll certainly let you all know."
There must be several members of the current Dundee United squad who are playing for their futures at the club, but Levein still doesn't think he's had enough time to get to know his players well enough.
"It's a situation where I'm looking at players constantly and trying to work out exactly what they can do for me, and how consistently," he added.
"There are only so many times you can go back to the well and I feel when one or two players go off the boil we don't have anybody else to help us change it."
"We need to be able to leave people out and I would have rested some had we had more quality available."
