Caley Thistle Next For United In Cup

If Dundee United managed to beat Saint Mirren in the Scottish Cup next week, they face a difficult trip to Inverness to play Charlie Christie's side in the 4th round of the competition.

Dundee United were due to play St Mirren this afternoon, but the SFA agreed to postpone the match after Craig Levein's side was crippled by the flu.

The bug hit Tannadice earlier this week and so many players were struggling with the virus, that Dundee United would have struggle to put together a full team to play Gus MacPherson's team.

The rescheduled 3rd round match against the Paisley club takes place on Tuesday 16th January, with a 7:45pm kickoff - but the winner off that match will have to play Caley Thistle at Caledonian Stadium in February.

Caley Thistle progressed into the 4th round after a sensational 6-1 win over 2nd division Stirling Albion at the Forthbank stadium.

Craig Dargo made his return to the Caley 1st team after injury and netted twice, with further strikes from Dennis Wyness and Roy McBain giving the SPL side a 4-1 lead at half-time.

Barry Wilson and Alan Morgan completed a miserable afternoon for the home side, by completing the 6-1 scoreline and humiliation of Allan Moore's side.

If Dundee United do progress into the 4th round of the Scottish Cup, the match against Caley Thistle will take place on either the 3rd or the 4th of February.

Full Draw (For Scottish Cup 4th Round):
(Aberdeen or Hibernian) v Gretna
Deveronvale v Partick Thistle
(Dundee or Queen of the South) v (Cowdenbeath or Brechin)
Dunfermline v Hearts
Falkirk v (St Johnstone or Ayr United)
Inverness Caley Thistle v (Dundee Utd or Saint Mirren)
Livingston v Celtic
Motherwell v Morton

Not an easy tie, but if we can beat Saint Mirren, then we should have enough quality to beat Caley as well
