Dundee United Have Now Signed Sean

Shelbourne last night announced that Dundee United had completed the signing of defender Sean Dillon for an undisclosed fee, but this time it really had happened.

The Eircom club made a similar premature announcement last week, which United manager Craig Levein had to deny, since he hadn't even spoken with the 23-year-old or his agent, at that time.

However, its now been reported that Dillon has finally signed a 2 and 1/2 year deal at Tannadice, which makes him Craig Levein's 3rd signing of the January transfer window - after securing the services of Morgaro Gomis and Jon Daly last week.

"Sean is slightly different from Jon in that he has not played since the game when Shelbourne won the Irish League at the end of October, so we will have to check on his fitness," Levein told the Evening Telegraph.

"It should not take him too long to get back up to scratch, though, and I will be happy to get him. We've had Christian Kalvenes out for a few games now and we've also been asking Lee Mair to operate as a makeshift full-back."

"While I won't want to move him round too much, Sean can play in both full-back positions, so it will be good to have a versatile player like him added to the squad."
