Craig Levein has described new signing Jon Daly as a "physical" player his side has been lacking and believes is certain he will score goals for Dundee United.
After signing from Hartlepool last week, the 24-year-old joined the squad for training a few days ago, with an eye on making his debut against Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday.
"I think he will bring something to the team that we don't have....a real physical presence in attack," said Levein.
"I am really pleased because it gives us another option, particularly in certain games here where we have guys who are great at putting the ball into the box from wider areas."
"His main strength is attacking the ball and if we continue to do that I would expect us to be able to give Jon an opportunity to score goals."
"Although it is not just that. He will get us up the pitch at times, particularly in certain games when we haven't been strong enough to keep the ball in the final third."
"You just have to look at Jon. He is a big lad and he does punch his weight as well. I have (so far) had very positive experiences of working with Irish players in the past."
Meanwhile, Daly himself is keen to play against Rangers, because he wants to see whats it like to play infront of a crowd of over 50,000.
"It's obviously a big step up from Hartlepool, but it is one I believe I can make and I want to do well," said Daly.
"If selected, starting at a place like Rangers on Saturday will be special. It's a big stadium and there will be a great atmosphere."
