McCracken Is Still In Contention

Dundee United defender David McCracken will remain an important part of Craig Levein`s 1st team, even though the clubs longest serving player is definitely leaving the club in the summer.

McCracken was told last weekend that his contract will not be renewed, because Craig Levein was unhappy with his recent performances, especially after the 5-0 humiliating at Ibrox earlier this month.

The Glasgow born player is now searching for a new club, with SPL side Motherwell rumored to be winning the race to sign the 25-year-old.

"What has happened with David is that I have indicated he is unlikely to be offered a new contract at the end of the season and we thought it right to tell him to give him the chance to find another club," said United manager Levein.

"It was not something I particularly wanted to make public right now, but sometimes these things come out."

"If he gets a club before the end of the transfer window he will be allowed to go, but, if he is here beyond that, he will still be training with us and will be considered for games"

No shock here, if we get a few injuries again, we'll need McCracken - so Levein isnt going to take any chances!
