Dundee United v Hibernian

Dundee United host leaders Hibernian this evening in an absolutely vital encounter at Tannadice.

The Tangerines currently have a seven-point deficit to make up on their latest visitors, although still holding a game in hand on Neil Lennon's side.

Defender Coll Donaldson was expected to be in their squad following a recent trial for Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecz in Poland. However, they were only interested in a possible loan deal and that was unsuitable to his present employers.

Lewis Toshney was also set to return to action following almost a month on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury.

Meanwhile, Dutch forward Nick van der Velden is keen to bow out with a promotion having this week announced his decision to retire from football at the end of the season. He's scored three goals in 26 appearances since arriving at United last summer.

"It is always a difficult decision to bring to an end something you are extremely passionate about," he commented in the Dundee Courier. "But I do so with the knowledge I gave my all and achieved everything and more.

"I still have goals at United, and my focus is on achieving them. The most important one being promotion to the Ladbrokes Premiership so let's make that happen!"
