Dundee United v Ayr United

Scottish Challenge Cup winners Dundee United are back in Championship action this evening when hosting Ayr United at Tannadice.

The Tangerines will be chasing a first win in six league games having lost four of their previous handful while slipping down to fourth in the table.

They may include former Manchester City youth midfielder Wato Kuate within their squad after signing a short-term deal.

"We've signed him to the end of the season," manager Ray McKinnon told the Dundee Courier. "He's only 21. He's got something there. There's a raw ability and we'll see how he does between now and the end of the season.

"It's a chance for him to impress and get a permanent deal. He`s strong, can keep the ball and is motivated," he added. "He trains with us every day and doesn't look out of place so he's probably ready for a spot on the bench."

Meanwhile, striker Simon Murray is hopeful of agreeing a new contract with the club after opening talks yesterday.

"We spoke to the club this morning," he revealed. "Hopefully we'll maybe get something sorted soon. I want to stay and the manager wants me to stay."

The visitors are currently battling against relegation and without Declan McDaid and Jamie Adams, although everybody is available.
