Utd Set For Busy Transfer Deadline

Dundee United are set to make at least one further signing before the January transfer window closes next mid-week, with Craig Levein expecting a last minute signing rush in Scotland.

Manager Craig Levein has already signed 4 new players during the window - Morgaro Gomis, Jon Daly, Sean Dillon and Darren Dods - though Dods wont be joining the club until his contract with Caley Thistle expires at the end of May.

Although, Levein has admitted his desire to bring at least one more experienced defender to stabilise his frail defender, and the club have already been linked with loans moves for Sheffield Wednesday`s Graeme Coughlin and West Ham United defender Christian Dailly.

New Zealand International Che Bunce arrived at Tannadice earlier in the week, for a 1-week trial and given the recent positive comments by Levein, it looks likely that the 31-year-old will be join the club on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

However, there could still be more movement on the transfer front, with players both coming in and some players being loaned out.

Youngster Ross Gardiner returned from a loan at Arbroath, but United have had several lower division clubs tender an interest in loaning the young defender out until the end of campaign.

There was still a chance that Dundee United could have brought Darren Dods to Tannadice this month, but Levein has poured cold water on that one.

When asked about the Dods transfer Levein said, "I think that will be the summer - we've taken our eye off that one now."

"I`ve got Che Bunce here now, who has done quite well since he's been here the last 2 or 3 days."

"I do think between now and Wednesday you will see some movement, certainly coming in the way and maybe 1 or 2 going out on loan."

"The funny thing about this window, and I detest it, because everyone is so cagey and they wait until the last minute before they go to do anything."

"What you tend to find is, its like selling a house, one sale relies on another and another and another and another - its like a domino effect."

"Once 1 moves, everyone scurries to get something done before the transfer window closes."

"In the last 4 or 5 hours before it shuts you could probably get a rain forest worth of fax paper piling up in the SFA Headquarters - but that`s the system and we've just got to adapt to it."

Here's hoping we sign a couple of great player, who will score many great goals and take us to the European Cup final in 3 years time.
Or, Im sure many of us would settle for a half decent goalie, a defender who can tackle, a midfielder that can pass the ball, and a forward who can score the odd goal!!!!

The DAilly move would make sense... if the Hammers didn;t currently have four injured centre backs! This will put the skids on his return 'home'. Mark Kerr- always good on Championship Manager - is he any good? Has he had/will he get international recognition? www.westham.vitalfootball.co.uk
