Promotion everything for boss

Promotion everything for boss

Dundee United boss Ray McKinnon is understandably prepared to sacrifice their defence of the Irn-Bru Cup in order to return the club to the Scottish Premiership.

The Tangerines defeated St Mirren in last season's final before then narrowly missing out in their play-off showdown to Hamilton Academical.

However, those successful runs to the respective finals meant an extended total of 54 competitive games in a simply marathon campaign for the Tannadice outfit.

"Winning the cup last season was great but our No 1 priority has to be promotion," McKinnon told the Evening Telegraph. "The Premiership is where this club has to be and it's where the fans want us to be, we're aware of that."
