Boss applauds winger

Manager Ray McKinnon believes winger Paul McMullan has made the correct decision by leaving champions Celtic for Dundee United.

The 21-year-old already enjoyed a productive loan spell at Dunfermline Athletic last term before permanently switching to Tannadice. He scored seven goals in 39 appearances for the East End Park club.

"People might think leaving Celtic without breaking through there is a step down but Paul's doing the right thing," McKinnon reasoned ton the Dundee Evening Telegraph. "If you look at the squad Celtic have, it's very hard for young players to force their way into the team.

"He could have stayed at Parkhead and picked up his money but there was a real danger he could have stagnated," he added. "Instead, he's taken a brave decision to come to us because he'll have a better chance of a regular first-team game."
