United sign Dutch playmaker

Dundee United have signed Dutch midfielder Jordie Briels on a one-year deal, subject to international clearance.

The 26-year-old previously made 146 appearances and scored seven goals for his only professional club, Fortuna Sittard.

"I am happy to be at United," Briels told United's official website. "I had the opportunity to come over and see how things are here and everyone has been great with me since I arrived.

"I have enjoyed training with the team and the style of the football is something that I like and also suits my game," he continued. "I want to help the Club win the Ladbrokes Championship this season".

He becomes the sixth summer arrival and follows James Keatings, Billy King, Thomas Scobbie, Paul McMullan and Patrick N'Koyi.
