Dundee United v Falkirk

Dundee United v Falkirk

Having defeated Championship leaders St Mirren by a single-goal in midweek, Dundee United are straight back into action with Falkirk providing their weekend opposition at Tannadice.

Winger Billy King scored an early winner as the visitors' hopes of confirming the title were dashed while their opponents secured a much-needed victory following a costly sequence of recent results.

Dutch midfielder Jordie Briels returned for the final ten minutes from the bench after an absence of over four months due to injury. He was certainly heartened by the improved performance.

"Against St Mirren we battled," Briels told the Dundee Evening Telegraph. "That is how it starts, with battling and being hard working. On Tuesday everybody showed we can work.

"Tuesday has given us a good feeling," he added. "You need to have trust in each other and trust in what we can do. We had that feeling against St Mirren and that is what you need. It is something we can build on."

United will be without suspended fellow midfielder Sam Stanton, though striker Scott McDonald is available from a similar ban.

Otherwise, long-term casualties James Keatings [groin] and Lewis Toshney [knee] continue to make progress but won't be back in action this season.
