Dargo Deal Unlikely Say Dundee Utd

(Written by Tactful Sheik)

Craig Dargo isn`t on his way to Dundee United, after manager Craig Levein denied any interest in the 29-year-old striker.

Dundee United dismissed the story this morning, after a weekend of speculation linking the Inverness Caley Thistle player with an immediate move to Tannadice.

The former Kilmarnock and Raith Rover`s forward has been linked with Dundee United several times in recent seasons, especially during Craig Brewster`s managerial reign, with Brewster apparently keen on Dargo after his spell as manager of Caley Thistle.

After missing out on forwards Jason Scotland (off to Swansea) and David Weatherson (off to Saint Johnstone), manager Levein is keen to bring another goal scorer to the club.

Strikers are in short supply at Tannadice at the moment, with Jon Daly, who joined Tannadice from Hartlepool in January, out for 4/5 months after picking up an injury in the closing stages of the recent campaign and Collin Samuel leaving last month, after Craig Levein decided not to renew his contract with Dundee United.

It was rumored that out-of-contract Dargo has been approached by Dundee United, but it would appear more likely that he will sign a new deal with Inverness Caley Thistle, with manager Charlie Christie keen to keen him at the club and hopeful he will re-sign after returning from holiday.

"I've contacted Craig but he's still in Spain on holiday but he assured me he'll give us his decision within the next few days,' admitted Caley Thistle manager Charlie Christie.

Dargo has scored 31 goals for Caley Thistle over the last few seasons, several against Dundee United - so whatever happens, United supporters will be hoping that Dargo doesn`t end up playing against us next season.
