Some newspapers are claiming this morning, that Dundee United are no longer interested in Mark De Vries, mainly because the 30-year-old striker is still under contract at Leicester City.
However, it was reported late yesterday afternoon that both De Vries and former Celtic goalkeeper Rab Douglas have been transfer listed by the English Championship club.
"I finally got to speak to both Mark de Vries and Rab Douglas yesterday afternoon," said Leicester City manager Martin Allen yesterday.
"Both players are out of the country and in an ideal world I wanted to talk to them face to face, rather than chat over the telephone."
"I have informed both of them that they have been made available for transfer with immediate effect and that it would be in their best interests to get themselves another club."
Dundee United manager Craig Levein has already admitted an interest in bring De Vries to Tannadice, after working with the 6ft 3in attacker at both Hearts and Leicester City.
The biggest stumbling block would appear to be the players wage demands, which are likely to be considerable, probably in excess of £3,500 per week.
Craig Levein is on the look out for a proven goal scorer to bring to Tannadice, following the departure of Collin Samuel and Jon Daly`s long-term injury.
Dundee United have already missed out on Jason Scotland (off to Swansea) and David Weatherston (signed for Saint Johnstone), but Mark De Vries is unlikely to be the only name on Levein`s wish list.
