United Still Keen On Oldham Striker?
There is still a slim chance that Oldham Athletic striker Chris Porter will join Dundee United next week, after speculation that the 23-year-old is now keen on a move to Scotland.
Dundee United manager Craig Levein admitted earlier this week that Porter was his number one choice in the hunt for a new striker.
A deal seemed unlikely after Porter failed to come to a decision on Dundee United`s offer, before a Tuesday night deadline set by Levein.
Speaking to the Scotsman, Levein said 'To be honest, he was my top target for a striker."
"We set a deadline for a decision from him, but the lad couldn`t make up his mind so we pulled the plug. "
'He would have liked more time, but I want people who are desperate to come to this club and be part of what we are trying to do.'
Although, Porter now appears to have come to a decision about his future and is considering a move to Scotland, with Motherwell now linked with the talented youngster.
Motherwell manager Mark McGhee is apparently close to sign the former Bury frontman, making him his 2nd signing since taking over as manager of the Fir Park side.
However, Craig Levein still has time to reconsider his decision on Porter and Dundee United might make a last ditch attempt to steal Porter away from their SPL rivals Motherwell.
