5 Stars Missing From Barcelona Squad

According to this morning`s Daily Mail, Barcelona will be missing 5 of the 1st team squad for Thursday night`s match against Dundee United.

The Daily Mail reported that former Chelsea and Bolton frontman Eidur Gudjohnsen has been a late casualty, after failing to recover from a knee problem in time for Barca`s pre-season tour of Scotland.

The Iceland international now joins defender Carles Puyol on the treatment table, while manager Frank Rijkaard has granted permission to 3 of his squad to remain in Spain, to recover from International commitments.

Lionel Messi, Gabriel Milito and Rafael Marquez are missing the Dundee United and Hearts friendlies, because they are feeling worn out after playing in the Copa America over the past month.

Although, former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry is expected to be part of the squad which arrived at St Andrews today, with Rijkaard promising the French International will play at least some part in the Catalan side`s Scottish exhibition matches.

Ronaldinho, Lilian Thuram, Samuel Eto'o, Gianluca Zambrotta and Xavi are also expected to make an appearance at Tannadice and/or Murrayfield at the end of this week.
