6-Month Loan Deal For Polish Keeper
Polish goalkeeper Lukasz Zaluska must have made quite an impression on Craig Levein, because the Dundee United manager has signed another Polish keeper as his temporary replacement.
Zaluska broke a bone in his foot during a 3-0 friendly win over Airdrie last Thursday night, leaving Levein with only the inexperienced Euan McLean as cover.
With the new season only 10 days away and the high profile exhibition match with Barcelona this Thursday evening, Levein put out an S.O.S appealing for goalkeeping cover.
Polish International Grzegorz Szamotulski answered Levein`s appeals and has joined Dundee United on a 6 month loan deal, to give Lukasz Zaluska time to recover from his injury.
The Sturm Graz keeper has been capped 13 times for Poland and is expected to start against Barcelona, hoping to prevent the likes of Ronaldinho and Thierry Henry finding the back of the net.
"He is very experienced, and has been keen to move to British football," admitted Levein to the BBC earlier today.
"This allows him to showcase his talents and with the injury to Lukasz, the signing suits both parties."
