After investing over £5million of his own personal fortune and even putting his own health at risk, its no surprise that Eddie Thompson describes himself as "slightly insane."
Although, after 5years as Chairman of Dundee United Football Club, it looks like his efforts are finally starting to pay off.
With 13 matches played, Dundee United sit proudly in joint 2nd spot in the SPL, equal on points with both Hibernian and Rangers - just a single victory away from Celtic at the top of the league.
Eddie Thompson has seen managers come and go, but this time it looks like the former managing director of 'Morning, Noon and Night` has unearthed a hidden gem, in Craig Levein.
After a rocky couple of years, manager Craig Levein has kicked the club back into shape and Dundee United supporters have finally got something to cheer about.
But.... what about the Chairman?
What does Eddie Thompson want in return for all the millions of pounds he`s invested in the club over the past 5 years?
"Why have I spent the money? Apart from being slightly insane, I`ve got United in my blood," admitted Eddie Thompson in an interview with ArabZone.
"I'm not looking for any dividend or return from getting involved with Dundee United, apart from success on the park."
"It`s only very recently that we`ve seen any success on the park.'
'It has been tough, more bad times than good times, but there`s only 1 club for me and that`s Dundee United."
