Proud To Be An Arab

Biography

Name:
Arab Jacques

Age:
Now that would be telling!

From:
I now reside in Dundee, but I regret to say that I have also lived in 'Weegie' Land and Fife.

How Long Have You Been An Arab:
Since I was 4 or 5 years old.

Why:
When living in Glasgow I used to say - "Why not? Everyone in Dundee seems to support one of the Old Firm sides, I`m just trying to redress the balance!"

1st Match:
I think my first United game was against Dunfermline at Tannadice, which might even have been called off half way through.

Favourite Match:
The 4-0 victory over Aberdeen at Tannadice on New Years day 1997, or the 3-2 win over St Johnstone to keep us in the SPL.

Worst Match
1-0 defeat to Dumbarton at Boghead, during our season in the 1st division.

Best Goal:
Gary McSwegan's late strike against Celtic at Tannadice.
McSwegan got the ball at the edge of the penalty box just into injury time and took a shot, which deflected off a defender and looped over Stewart Kerr in the Celtic goal to seal a 1-0 win.

Proudest Moment:
Has to be the 1994 Scottish Cup Final victory over Rangers.

Worst Moment
When St Johnstone went 2-0 up at McDirmid Park, just as Saint Mirren went 2-1 up over Aberdeen at Love Street.

Funniest Moment
Listening to the Celtic supporters at the 2-1 defeat at Tannadice on the last day of the 1998/99, which was also Sieb Dijkstra's last game with United.
The Celtic supporters in the Shed were singing "Bring On The Porn Star" & "I'd rather be a hairbrush than a Combe", before giving Sieb Dijsktra a standing ovation when he was subbed on for Alan Combe......it was a rare hint that some Old Firm supporters might be human after all!!!

Fav Player(s):
Andy McLaren, Billy McKinlay, Paul Sturrock, Christian Dailly and Craig Brewster...
