Dundee Utd vs. Aberdeen

Utd v Dons in Scottish Cup

Dundee Utd face Aberdeen today in what is arguably the pick of the matches in the Scottish Cup third round.

Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood is a good friend of United boss Gordon Chisholm and although Chis is under pressure and could face the sack soon, Calderwood is still determind to beat United and pile more pressure on his pal.

With both teams in the bottom half of the table this is a must win game foro them. Both would usually be expected to have a good run in this competition had they not been drawn together so early and for one of them, it will be LONG second half of the season with no cup games to look forward to.

United met Aberdeen in this competition last season as well and on that occasion they came out on top with a great 4-1 victory.

The Arabs would love a similar result today but would probably just be happy to get their name in the hat for the next round.

Vital Quotes:

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood

'I'd be sick if we won and then something happened to Gordon but it's the law of the jungle.'

Dundee Utd Team News:

Mark Wilson is a huge doubt for Dundee United, he missed training yesterday due to a cold.

United also have Colin Samuel and Grant Brebner rated doubtful for this clash.

Player to watch: Colin Samuel

If fit and selected it will be a boost for United.

Aberdeen Team News:

Aberdeen have Zander Diamond, Michael Hart and Scott Severin missing through injury but there may be a place for new signing Danny Griffin who has played for Dundee Utd in the past.

Player to watch: Danny Griffin

A return to Tannadice against his old team for Griffin on his Aberdeen debut.
