Inverness CT 0 - Dundee United 2

Caledonian Stadium

Tue 1st Mar 7.45pm

Attendance: 3,392

Inverness 0 Dundee United 2

There was a first win in five games for Dundee United as substitutes Prince Buaben and David Robertson were both on target late on at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

They followed the weekend example of fellow replacement Andis Shala at Hamilton Academical by snatching the goals that hoisted their side above their latest opponents and into sixth place in the table.

Buaben netted the first from David Goodwillie's assist with fifteen minutes remaining before David Robertson made the game safe with a low strike in the final minute.

But the visitors required a great early stop from Dusan Pernis after Richie Foran had met a Jonny Hayes cross with his header.

The Slovakian international also had to save from ex-Tangerine Stuart Duff, although more routinely this time, while Foran and Hayes then provided further moments of danger.

At the opposite end, leading goalscorer Goodwillie was wide of the mark with back to goal from a Craig Conway cross.

The visitors improved after the interval and Goodwillie tested goalkeeper Ryan Esson, who was then forced into full-length action to turn Danny Swanson's shot around an upright.

But it was Buaben breaking the deadlock when finding the corner from a pull back by Goodwillie on 75 minutes before Adam Rooney missed with a diving header at the other end.

And the contest was sealed when after weekend saviour Shala had already seen an attempt kicked off the line, Morgaro Gomis supplied David Robertson to finish it from the edge of the area in the last minute.
