Dundee United 1 - Inverness CT 0

Tannadice

Sat 19th Mar 3pm

Attendance: 6,548

Dundee United 1 Inverness CT 0

Five straight league victories for Dundee United courtesy of a Danny Swanson winner against Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Tannadice.

The decisive moment came two minutes prior to the interval as Swanson converted David Robertson's cross to maintain the hosts' fourth place in the table.

Johnny Russell headed over an early Keith Watson cross before Johnny Hayes delivered at the opposite end for Richie Foran to nod straight at Dusan Pernis.

David Robertson then couldn't find the required accuracy for the home side after good work from David Goodwillie, while Pernis was called upon to block with his legs from Chris Hogg.

The Terrors again went forward with Swanson having an effort deflected wide from the edge of the area before Goodwillie was denied as goalkeeper Ryan Esson blocked in time.

But the hosts still went ahead two minutes before the break when David Robertson crossed for Scott Robertson to head down and Swanson turned the ball home.

Following the restart Adam Rooney and Lee Cox each threatened for the visitors and David Robertson volleyed over in reply.

Russell Duncan then diverted Swanson's free-kick against his own crossbar as the home side again went close, while Hayes sliced wide for their opponents and Swanson and Russell both later missed the target before their side could celebrate another victory.
