Dundee United 2 Hearts 1

Dundee United completed their season in style with a 2-1 win over third-placed Hearts at Tannadice.

Leading goalscorer David Goodwillie earned them the lead midway through the opening half before Gary Glen equalised just after the half-hour.

But Jon Daly struck a winner with nineteen minutes remaining as the hosts eventually finished only a couple of points behind their visitors in the table.

Goodwillie had earlier been denied by a superb save from Marian Kello after opposite number Dusan Pernis collected far more routinely from Eggert Jonsson.

Glen then failed to take advantage of Craig Thomson's delivery before his side fell behind as Goodwillie seized upon a lose ball and forced it home.

Hearts were level nine minutes later, however, after David Templeton's free-kick was met by a stooping header by Glen.

Pernis also fingered over a 30-yard attempt from Templeton, while Craig Conway soon thumped over from distance in reply.

Decent work from Goodwillie after the break then witnessed Mihael Kovacevic calling Kello into further action before both Goodwillie and Prince Buaben were wide of the mark for the home side.

Templeton suddenly posed a threat at the opposite end until Pernis raced out to clear before Daly took advantage of a weak Ismael Bouzid clearance on 71 minutes to regain the lead.

And that remained despite danger man Templeton flashing a late effort invitingly across the face of goal for the visitors.
