Hibernian 3 - Dundee United 3

Easter Road

Sat 24th Sep 3pm

Attendance: 9,360

Six goals shared at Hibs

Dundee United came from behind but were themselves eventually pegged back as the sides shared six goals at Easter Road. Jon Daly netted twice for the visitors either side of another goal from Danny Swanson.

And it was Swanson slicing an early opportunity wide before John Rankin marked his return to his former club by landing an effort onto the top of the net.

But it was the hosts going in front midway through the first-half as Garry O'Connor seized upon an inviting David Wotherspoon pass and rounded keeper Dusan Pernis before converting from a narrow angle.

That lead wasn't to last for long, however, and the visitors equalised six minutes later as Daly netted on the rebound after Rankin's shot had been parried by Hibs keeper Graham Stack.

Within five minutes the Tangerines were ahead courtesy of a smart finish from Swanson as he slotted low into the corner following his release by Rankin.

Goalscorer Swanson then drove straight at Stack after the break and Leigh Griffiths screwed wide in reply before Daly knocked in a 68th minute Paul Dixon cross to make it 3-1 for the visitors.

Hibs though drew themselves right back into the contest with two rapid goals as Scott Robertson diverted into his own net from a powerful drive from Issiah Osborne.

And moments later Junior Agogo got on the end of O'Connor's pass and curled beyond Pernis to equalise from around eighteen-yards.

Back came the visitors with Rankin having a long-range attempt held by Stack before his opposite number Pernis kept out Victor Palsson during the final exchanges.
