Terrors blown Well off course

Dundee United shared an uninspiring scoreless draw with third-placed Motherwell as both sets of players toiled throughout in the windy conditions at Fir Park.

Goalkeeper Dusan Pernis had to push aside an early Michael Higdon effort while Gary Mackay-Steven turned well in reply but couldn't really trouble Darren Randolph in the home goal.

Midfielder Keith Lasley was next to try his luck for the hosts but his shot sailed well over as the wind continued to dominate proceedings. Higdon did have the ball in the visitors net but it had already left the field of play before Chris Humphrey could deliver his cross.

But it was soon their keeper Randolph saving well from both John Rankin and Jon Daly before the break, although Nicky Law had an attempt charged down following the restart.

Terrors keeper Pernis then held Shaun Hutchinson's header on the line from a Steven Hammell cross before also smothering ahead of the run of Higdon.

Both sides continued to try and find a winner as the tempo increased towards the closing stages but the scoresheet remained untroubled on a difficult afternoon.
