Late reward as Dixon strikes

Dundee United rescued a well-deserved draw after Paul Dixon netted a late injury-time equaliser at Kilmarnock.

Killie had already taken the lead early in the second-half courtesy of a great finish from James Dayton.

But it was home keeper Cameron Bell called upon first to deny John Rankin and then divert a Gavin Gunning header onto the crossbar.

Dean Shiels clipped the woodwork in reply after calls for a penalty when Dixon challenged Dayton before Stuart Armstrong rattled an upright at the opposite end.

The visitors continued to threaten with Jon Daly twice shooting wide before the interval and Bell also had to keep out Armstrong.

But it was their opponents going ahead as Dayton moved inside on 51 minutes and found the top corner with a tremendous 25-yard strike.

The Tangerines tried to respond with Johnny Russell and Rankin both wayward, while Armstrong and Daly also offered hope to their travelling supporters.

And they were finally rewarded when Dixon cut in from the left and drove a deserved equaliser in added time.
