Keith Watson and Jon Daly were both on target as Dundee United overcame Rangers again in a 2-1 victory at Tannadice.
Recalled defender Watson fired the hosts ahead from 20-yards on 37 minutes and Daly doubled their lead from close-range ten minutes later. United midfielder John Rankin later deflected in a Sone Aluko effort on the hour.
Rangers appeared threatening during the early stages with Salim Kerkar prominent. Home goalkeeper Dusan Pernis soon had to race out to clear ahead of him before Kerkar struck wide following a good solo break.
But it was still the hosts going in front when Watson drilled into the top corner from Daly's flick after Paul Dixon's long throw.
Boosted by that the Tangerines started to the second period well and added their second goal within a couple of minutes when Gary Mackay-Steven crossed for Daly to apply a six-yard finish.
The visitors responded by introducing Aluko from the bench and after Daly headed over their crossbar it was an effort from the Rangers substitute which diverted off the challenging Rankin and looped into his own net.
Then after Alejandro Bedoya had forced only a routine save from Pernis the contest found Lee McCulloch blocking a Johnny Russell drive at the opposite end and Sean Dillon firing over from the resultant corner.
