Tangerines' run ended

Dundee United's recent fine run of six consecutive victories was ended following a 3-1 defeat at Scottish Cup semi-finalists Aberdeen.

Darren Mackie chipped the home side into an early lead but Jon Daly equalised with his 21st goal of the campaign before the half-hour.

However, a rare slip from visiting goalkeeper Dusan Pernis gave Chris Clark the opportunity to restore the advantage on 68 minutes before Ryan Jack headed a third ten minutes later.

The Tangerines were denied strong early penalty calls when Clark Robertson appeared to trip namesake Scott Robertson inside the area before Mackie lifted his finish over Pernis to open the scoring just four minutes later.

John Rankin attempted to reply as he curled a shot over from the edge of the box while Pernis was forced to block from Stephen Hughes after a loose back-pass by Willo Flood at the opposite end.

But when Flood delivered a corner for Daly to volley past goalkeeper Jason Brown the visitors were level ahead of the half-hour mark.

Clark then supplied a cross headed wide by Mackie prior to the break before taking advantage of Pernis fumbling Rory McArdle's 68th minute centre and regaining the lead with a simple finish.

Scott Vernon later hesitated when presented with an opportunity as Jack and Mackie combined well - but it didn't matter as Jack headed in Clark's cross to ensure the victory twelve minutes from time.
