Dundee United 0 - Ross County 0

No way through at Tannadice

Both sides missed the opportunity of taking over the leadership of the table after a 0-0 draw at Tannadice.

Each struck the woodwork but the result was enough for the SPL newcomers to maintain their unbeaten league record this season with their fourth scoreless draw in six games.

County are now actually undefeated in 40 league games following on from their promotion at the end of last season.

Colin McMenamin headed against the crossbar early on for the visitors and also missed a couple of other chances while Ryan Dow found the woodwork for their opponents following the break.

The Dingwall outfit began well and McMenamin nodded against the frame of the goal from a corner delivered inside the opening five minutes before almost getting onto a Keith Watson pass missed by goalkeeper Radoslaw Czierniak.

His opposite number Michael Fraser blocked well after fine solo work from Johnny Russell, who then knocked the rebound wide. Michael Gardyne was similarly a threat against his former club as Fraser was forced into a full-length save.

Following the break McMenamin went close twice in quick succession as he headed wide and then missed after being sent clear.

But the visitors had an escape of their own as Dow hoisted over keeper Fraser and the ball caught only the top of the crossbar.

Home defender Gavin Gunning was near with a later header from Willo Flood's corner but the frustration continued alongside the blank scoreline.
