Narrow defeat for ten-man United
Fri 26th Apr 7.35pm
Defender Barry Douglas was sent-off as Dundee United fell to a single-goal defeat to Ross County at Victoria Park.
Ivan Sproule headed in Iain Vigurs' cross for the winner early in the second-half and Douglas was then controversially dismissed for a firm challenge on the goalscorer.
Vigurs had earlier tested Radoslaw Cierzniak with a low drive after Willo Flood conceded possession on the edge of his own area before directing another opportunity wide from a cross by Sproule.
The Polish keeper also had to come out to clear ahead of Sproule after Flood was again caught on the ball while Brian McLean charged down from German striker Steffen Wohlfarth.
But when Douglas delivered a free-kick towards the other end skipper Jon Daly's header forced a fine diving stop from Michael Fraser.
However, County still forged ahead nine minutes into the second-half when Vigurs' cross was met by the far post header of Sproule. He was then the victim as Douglas was dismissed before later setting-up another chance for Vigurs.
Home skipper Richard Brittain later went extremely close to doubling the advantage with a 25-yard shot that came back off the crossbar as the visitors slipped to a second successive defeat.
