Tangerines slump to another loss

Dundee United's recent form continues to be turned on its head with a third straight defeat to Aberdeen at Tannadice.

Teenage defender John Souttar earned the hosts an early second-half lead but former midfielder Barry Robson soon levelled from the penalty spot.

Then despite the best efforts of home keeper Radoslaw Cierzniak, Dons midfielder Peter Pawlett headed an injury-time winner.

Heavy rain made conditions difficult but the visitors enjoyed plenty of early possession, although opportunities proved somewhat restricted.

But a mistake from Souttar on the half-hour allowed Pawlett a chance until Cierznak successfully blocked while Andrew Robertson saw a fierce reply deflected wide.

However, when Dons keeper Jamie Langfield misjudged Mark Wilson's corner shortly after the break, Souttar struck the Taysiders into the lead.

Pawlett had already brought the best out of Cierzniak, who could though do nothing when Robertson was adjudged to have handled just beyond the hour and Robson equalised from the spot.

Cierzniak then denied both Niall McGinn and Pawlett, until the latter finally nodded home from close-range after the keeper had once again parried.
