Derby disappointment for United
Sat 19th Apr 3.00pm
Dundee United's dress rehearsal for next month's Scottish Cup final against St Johnstone ended in disappointment with a 2-0 defeat at McDiarmid Park.
Defender Steven Anderson and free-scoring striker Stevie May claimed the goals either side of the break.
Anderson had already gone close by the time he was left unmarked to head David Wotherspoon's free-kick past Radosław Cierzniak thirteen minutes before half-time.
St Johnstone were denied further reward as both May and Wotherspoon struck the woodwork before May doubled their lead from David Mackay's cross with fourteen minutes remaining.
The visitors were in contrast well below their best. Ryan Gauld poked directly at goalkeeper Alan Mannus, who was at least tested by both Gary Mackay-Steven and Brian Graham, while fellow substitute Ryan Dow was twice wide of the mark
