Tangerines down Dons
Sun 10th Aug 3.00pm
Dundee United opened their campaign in style with a convincing 3-0 success at Aberdeen.
Ryan Dow earned them the lead as the half-hour approached and Gary Mackay-Steven added a second on the stroke of half-time.
Substitute Chris Erskine then made it 3-0 in added time to put the visitors top of the table.
New signings Jaroslaw Fojut, Callum Morris and Conor Townsend were given competitive debuts in a reshaped defence and they soon witnessed Andrew Considine volleying over.
But a bad mistake from Dons defender Ash Taylor allowed Dow to seize upon his wayward pass and fire home.
Niall McGinn went close to an equaliser when his shot came back off the woodwork, although it was the visitors extending their lead through Mackay-Steven from Nadir Ciftci's pass.
The Tangerines continued to appear dangerous on the break and while having plenty of possession, Aberdeen didn't really threaten apart from a couple of penalty shouts and a block on the line by Morris.
Substitute Mario Bilate then drew space for fellow replacement Erskine to complete a fine afternoon for the travelling supporters.
