Tangerines maintain progress

Dundee United maintained their impressive start to the campaign with three second-half goals without reply at St Mirren.

Midfielder Chris Erskine was again on target and summer arrivals Jaroslaw Fojut and Blair Spittal added further efforts.

Home keeper Marian Kello had to save at the feet of Erskine early on while John McGinn's headed reply was turned over by Radoslaw Cierzniak. Jason Naismith glanced wide from the corner.

But the opening half was largely forgettable and Callum Ball was denied by Keith Watson's timely clearance following the break.

Moments later Erskine chased away and finished beyond Kello for his third goal in five games.

Both Jeroen Tesselaar and Kenny McLean tried replies, until Fojut powerfully headed in Gary Mackay-Steven's 69th minute corner to double the advantage.

Ryan Dow nearly grabbed another as Kello saved before substitute Spittal drove in a third with four minutes remaining.
