Queen of the South 4 Dundee United 2
Sat 1st Apr 3.00pm
Dundee United conceded twice during the final ten minutes on their way to a 4-2 defeat by Queen of the South at Palmerston Park.
Striker Derek Lyle took advantage of a Stephen Dobbie through pass to open the scoring for the hosts, who were though pegged back when Thomas Mikkelsen went round goalkeeper Lee Robinson to equalise.
However, Dobbie restored the home advantage prior the break break; until Mikkelsen grabbed his second of the afternoon ten minutes into the second-half.
But Lyndon Dykes and United defender Paul Dixon's own-goal still consigned the visitors to another defeat.
Dobbie earlier went close for their opponents on three separate occasions and team-mate Dominic Thomas also shot wide, while Charlie Telfer called Robinson into action at the other end.
But it was Lyle then slotting beyond Cammy Bell after receiving from the always dangerous Dobbie on nineteen minutes.
Danish striker Mikkelsen's angled finish soon brought the visitors back level, at least until Thomas released Dobbie to reclaim the lead after Willo Flood was caught in possession.
The Tangerines responded with Dixon's 30-yard effort being punched out by Robinson towards Mikkelsen, who promptly returned it to once more level early in the second-half.
Visiting keeper Bell was next required to thwart the lively Dobbie again before suffering a knock and being replaced by Luis Zwick with sixteen minutes remaining
He was though soon retrieving the ball from the back of his net when beaten by Dykes' angled strike, while Dixon unfortunately then put through his own goal after challenging substitute Dale Hilson during the closing moments.
