Greenock Morton 1 Dundee United 2
Tue 9th May 7.45pm
Dundee United came from behind to earn a vital lead in their play-off quarter-final first-leg against Greenock Morton at Cappielow Park.
Thomas O'Ware had the hosts in front as early as seven minutes but their opponents changed formation and both Simon Murray and Blair Spittal replied after the break.
Morton noticeably had the better of the opening period and O'Ware soon headed in Lawrence Shankland's delivery to give them the perfect start.
Michael Tidser almost had another with his 25-yard effort finding only the top of the crossbar, while Gary Oliver nearly took advantage of a Jamie Lindsay assist.
But a superb strike from Murray when receiving from Spittal early in the second-half then magnificently discovered the top corner of the net.
Midfield enforcer Willo Flood was next thwarted by home keeper Derek Gaston, until the in-form Spittal suddenly despatched a low drive into the bottom corner from just outside the area.
Shankland later headed over at the other end, but it's United, now seven games unbeaten, with a narrow advantage ahead of the much-anticipated Tannadice return.
