Dundee United 2 Falkirk 2

Dundee United twice led their play-off semi-final first-leg against Falkirk but must travel still level on Friday.

Striker Simon Murray handed them an early advantage cancelled out by James Craigen before the break.

Blair Spittal then struck for the fourth successive game to reclaim the lead, only for Joe McKee to reply direct from a free-kick.

It had started particularly well for the Tangerines when Cammy Bell's long clearance was helped on by Thomas Mikkelsen for Murray to finish low across goal. He'd already registered in both play-off ties against Greenock Morton.

However, Craigen produced an acrobatic scissor-kick when meeting McKee's inviting delivery to equalise close to the half-hour.

Falkirk's goalscorer might have had another and both Lee Miller and Nathan Austin were similarly close, until the in-form Spittal's angled drive saw the hosts back in front early in the second-half.

But their opponents were to recover again courtesy of another quality finish when McKee sent a long-range free-kick into the top corner.

Substitute John Baird later headed in Craigen's cross but was denied by an offside flag, while keeper Robbie Thomson superbly kept out Mikkelsen's late header towards the other end.
