Aberdeen 4 Dundee United 2
Sun 11th Feb 4.30pm
Gary Mackay-Steven scored twice against his former club as Dundee United went down 4-2 at Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup fifth round.
Adam Rooney earned the hosts a twentieth-minute lead and Mackay-Steven added to it before Sam Stanton replied at the other end.
But Kenny McLean immediately headed in for a 3-1 interval advantage that was improved upon by Mackay-Steven early in the second-half.
Substitute Paul McMullan then grabbed a second for the visitors with twenty minutes remaining.
The Dons had gone ahead with Rooney helping in Mackay-Steven's mishit attempt after a cross from Niall McGinn.
Seven minutes later Craig Slater conceded possession and McGinn allowed Mackay-Steven to double their advantage.
However, Stanton halved the deficit with a smart conversion after racing clear, only for McLean to instantly head in from Ryan Christie's delivery.
Mackay-Steven then made it four with an angled drive following the break, although McMullan later curled an excellent reply.
