Proctor was signed by Craig Brewster in July 2006, but struggled to make an impact on the 1st team after Craig Levein took over as manager in November 2006.
Levein announced that David Proctor was not part of his future plans at Tannadice in January 2007, inviting the defender to find himself a new club.
After a spell at Airdrie on-loan towards the end of the 2006/07 season, Proctor was given a chance to return to Caley Thistle at the start of the following campaign.
Former Dundee United manager Craig Brewster returned to Inverness to become Caley Thistle player-manager for the 2nd time - and invited Proctor to also return to the Caledonian Stadium in August 2007.
